Some things are more frustrating than trying to download the latest version of iOS, just to see your device stuck on “preparing to update.” Minutes turned into hours and your iPhone firmly refused to budge. Fortunately, it’s relatively easy to fix the problem. Problems with updates can occur due to a number of reasons and, unfortunately, Apple does not provide detailed information about definitive causes. Regardless of their simplicity for users, the iPhone is a very complex device that can experience a number of failures.
One common problem with updates is a failed Wi-Fi connection, or cannot be deleted. The iPhone requires an internet connection during the process, both for downloading and verifying updates after downloading. As a result, the simplest step is to make sure your Wi-Fi connection is stable. Apple recommends limiting your internet activities while the iPhone updates to relieve tension on your network connection. If the problem continues, try switching to another network to do an update.
Or, sometimes what seems to be a jammed update is just a telephone case that requires more time to complete the task. Some iOS updates are some gigabytes in size. Even after updates are complete, your cellphone needs to dismantle and verify. Then need to make sure there is enough space available, get rid of unnecessary data, and do general cleaning. This process can take a significant time, especially on longer devices.
If a more serious problem occurs – such as damaged downloads, not enough space available to install updates, or an error trying to verify updates – further actions may be needed. In particular, you might need to delete the downloaded file and start again. To do this, open the Settings application. Then, select “General” and tap “iPhone storage.” In the application list and data on your mobile, look for updates that you just downloaded. This can be registered as a “software update,” or it could be the name of the specific update you are trying to download, like “iOS 15.2.” Tap on the update and select “Remove Update.” You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete the update.

There is no guarantee of any update will run smoothly. In fact, it’s usually a good idea to wait a few days after a big update to see if other people report problems migrating to the latest version.
